21 And in his place shall stand up a [a]vile person, to whom they shall not give the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
22 And the [b]arms shall be overthrown with a flood before him, and shall be broken: and also the prince of the [c]covenant.
23 And after [d]the league made with him, he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and overcome with a [e]small people.

- Daniel 11:21 Which was Antiochus Epiphanes, who as is thought was the occasion of Seleucus his brother’s death, and was of a vile, cruel and flattering nature, and defrauded his brother’s son of the kingdom, and usurped the kingdom without the consent of the people.
- Daniel 11:22 He showeth that great foreign powers shall come to help the young son of Seleucus against his uncle Antiochus: and yet shall be overthrown.
